Brain tumors are abnormal growths of cells within the brain or the central spinal canal. They can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Brain tumors can originate from brain cells, membranes that cover the brain (meninges), cranial nerves, or other structures within the brain or nearby tissues. There are two types of brain tumors.
Primary Brain Tumors: These originate in the brain itself and can be benign(non-cancerous) (e.g., meningiomas, pituitary adenomas) or malignant (cancerous) (e.g., glioblastomas).
Metastatic Brain Tumors: These are cancers that have spread (metastasized) to the brain from other parts of the body, such as the lungs, breast, or kidney.
Treatment options often include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, depending on the type and stage of cancer.
